A letter to Baby P (written August 22nd, 2012)

Miss P,

Daddy, Big Sis and I have been awaiting your arrival for 272 days now.  We were anxious to get pregnant with you, anxious to find out what you were, anxious to get your nursery done and now we are anxious to meet you.  Although you are the first child to your daddy he treats your big sister like his own.  Your big sis wants you to be just like a blood sister.  She loves your daddy so much and can’t wait for you to join in on their fun.

We all daydream about what you’ll look like…will you have daddy’s dark straight hair, mommy’s light curly hair or some of Papa’s red hair?  The Gonzales skin or the Winslow skin?  Daddy’s amber eyes or mommy’s green eyes?  How will you be???  Will you scream like a man like your big sis did at just minutes old or will you be quiet and reserved like your sweet cousin Drew was?  Will you have a raspy voice like big sis or a voice of your own?  We envision you’ll be petite with dark brown curly hair, a long pointy nose like mom and dad, light eyes and tan skin.

You’ve been quite the entertainment for us these past few months.  You are very very active and catch mommy off guard with your frequent and intense moves.  Daddy was one of the best high school kickers and sister has been dancing for nine years now…you’ve got the moves Miss P!

Big sis can’t wait to do your hair and get you dressed.  She has been practicing with your cousin Drew for some time now.  She prays you’ll stay out of her things when you get older but dreams about the days where she’ll be able to take you shopping at the mall with your friends.

Daddy already has three Seahawks shirts ready for you and has told mommy and big sis how Sundays will be time for you two to lay in bed and watch football.  He can’t wait to teach you all of the plays and has aspirations that you’ll be a golfer one day.  He often tells you to take it easy on me and not to be so rough in there.

You are due to arrive in just eight short days.  Mommy didn’t get very big with you but she sure is uncomfortable.  Mommy’s midwife says you are gonna be a peanut!  We are hoping you’ll come a bit early so big sis has some time with you before she goes back to school to be a big 6th grader!

We are truly blessed to have you in our life.  We count our blessings that we were able to conceive you, that mommy hasn’t had any trouble carrying you and that as far as we know you are healthy.  We can’t wait for you to come into our blended family and for all of your firsts!
