BFF's

Amiya has always had a hard time making friends.  She's so wise beyond her years;  most kids her age get on her nerves.  She'd rather hang out with the adults than the kids.  Well...Brooklynn and her started dancing together when they were 6 and 7 (she's a year older) and it was instant friendship.  They get along better than I do with my best friend.  They have never had an argument or a single bicker.  They just get one another.  They love spending time together and we love when they do because life is easy when Brooks is around. 

Let me step back just a little.  Amiya gets really excited about stuff.  Like...we are going to dinner next week; she'll talk about it 20 times.  Santa is coming... she reminds me of it the day after Christmas.  I'm tellin' you...she LOVES getting out of her routine to do anything; she's been that way since she was born.  But with that...for her...comes anxiety.  She works herself up so bad over excitement for something coming that she loses sleep and gets the bubble guts.  We've gotten to the point where we don't tell her things and surprise her with pretty much everything because we need her to sleep and hate watching her get so anxious for things.  My mom says we may be taking the fun out of things because we don't let her get excited.  Trust me, when the surprise comes it's worth it.

Back to Brooks...they don't go to school together and Brooks goes to Canada every summer to stay with her grandma.  I guess maybe that's what makes their time together so special.  We don't get them together nearly as much as we'd like but when we do we try to make their time together as memorable as possible.  They spend their birthdays together and we have random surprise slumbers for them.  A few weeks ago Amiya asked if Brooks could stay over.  I usually contact her mom and when she says yes I tell Amiya it just won't work this weekend.  Totally fine to lie in this case.  When the doorbell rings and she shows up it's sheer excitement.  This time we went ahead and told her the day before.  Luckily no bubble guts but she did get up extremely early. 

We started their day off with a bike ride (forgot to take a pic) followed by a trip to the Y so they could get their swim on

On our way home we stopped and let them pick out a movie and some ice-cream.  When we got home they made their own pizzas and then settled in for ice cream and their movie.

AK and I went to our room to watch a movie of our own and we could hear them giggling the whole time; adorable!  After their movie they crawled in to bed where we could hear them giggling some more.

The plan for the following morning was for AK to do some yard work and for me to take the girls to an early movie.  Then drop Brooks off so we could head to Lacey to check out our rehearsal dinner spot.  When we woke up the next day it was gorgeous and we just couldn't pass up the opportunity to soak it up.  Brooks' parents were more than happy to let her stay with us for most the day.  We started off the morning with some homemade blueberry muffins.

Then we headed to Lacey to test out our rehearsal dinner spot (they even share their meals).

After we ate lunch we headed to our wedding venue to take some day time pictures while they got to soak up some sun on the water.

Then back to Tacoma to go go-carting at Pt. Defiance.

Next up...Dairy Queen for some ice-cream.  Then headed on our way to drop Brooks off.  Amiya was in the back seat trying to talk me in to letting her stay just a little bit longer.  Not long after that there was this:

We had such a great weekend and the girls got their time in with one another.  The big hair sisters are quite the pair! 

The next date is set for June 18th, 3 days after school is out, for Brooks' birthday.  Her parent's are taking them to Great Wolf Lodge.  This will definately be another surprise!
